The job is building fences and steel yards on farms and remote stations. You need to be emotionally and physically strong. You must be safety minded and be responsible for others safety around you.
We are looking for people who are comfortable with themselves and do not fear isolation. You will need to be committed to our business’ core values and take responsibility for your work. You need a positive attitude and a can-do frame of mind.
We value respect for yourself and others. Our work camp is a team that will become your community. We run a drug and alcohol-free camp.
The support I received whilst working for business was brilliant! I had never worked in a construction/physical job role before, however after training I the hang of things quickly! Before I arrived, I had no idea how the structure of a fence line worked or how to weld, learning these new skills was exciting. When mistakes were made, I was shown what went wrong and how to improve so that I wouldn’t repeat mistakes.
The job is extremely demanding physically and mentally. I Think the training was well supported. In every role I was expected to undertake I was fully trained, and it didn't seem to matter if it took me a few days to get up to speed with things. In my opinion more emphasise should be put on the workload, hours worked, heat and what is expected from them. I would also recommend offering a reward for completing the 3 months and offer more rewards for the longer you stay after 3 months.
I did enjoy learning new stuff all the time and going on an adventure! The camp is constantly changing. I felt very supported whilst working because Stewart listens and is always there to help someone.
